Luis Moreno and Mr. Paul Leone, AP Art Teacher, holding Luis' artwork featured in the Long Island’s Best Young Artists exhibition at the Heckscher Museum of Art

Luis Moreno, a senior at Massapequa High School, will have his artwork featured in the upcoming Long Island’s Best Young Artists exhibition at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington.

The show runs from April 6 to May 25. This is the third consecutive year that a Massapequa student has been selected for the prestigious regional show. Luis will be among 79 featured high school artists.

His piece, “Reflections of Sunlight and Darkness,” is a three-panel digital creation. Using ProCreate software, he made the trio of images based on a friend’s photograph. Luis is a student in Paul Leone’s Advanced Placement art class, and has previously taken studio art classes. After graduation, he plans to attend college for graphic design.

The annual juried exhibition kicks off with a preview day and awards ceremony for artists, families and teachers on April 5, and opens to the public the following day.
