Annual Facultiy Recital held February 3, 2025

Teachers and students combined to delight a crowd of a few hundred at Massapequa High School on Feb. 3 for the Faculty Recital.

The 13th annual evening showcase was an opportunity for music teachers to return to their roots and perform on a school stage for an audience. Several other district faculty and staff members also showcased their musical talents.

There were 21 performances throughout the evening which ranged from Irish medleys to vocal duets and trios to rock ‘n’ roll. About two dozen administrators, faculty and staff participated in at least one number, along with several high school student musicians. Over the past few years, the number of student participants in the Faculty Recital has grown, transforming the event into a true showcase of the Massapequa music department.

The concert featured some favorites like the duet of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” by Nancy Deustch on piano and Gary Loock on drums. Director of Fine and Performing Arts Vincent Green performed a solo, “Run Away With Me.” The second-to-last piece of the night, “Tears in Heaven” with Michael Perticone on saxophone and vocals and Keith Stephens on piano, was a tribute to Connor Kasin.

The event was hosted by the Tri-M Music Honor Society and served as a fundraiser for scholarships for graduating seniors in the music program.
