Ready to show off their acting skills, a cast of 70 fourth and fifth graders at Lockhart Elementary School are preparing for the upcoming Spotlight musical production. This year’s show is “Descendants,” a tale about the offspring of evil Disney characters who are trying to avoid paying for the sins of their parents.
Lead cast members are Liliana Carrillo as Mao, Kaitlyn Considine as Evie, Matthew Giudice as Ben, Jaxson McCabe as Carlos and Elliot Stashin as Jay. Major musical numbers include “Breaking This Down,” “Did I Mention” and “Rotten to the Core.”
“The music is very catchy,” Director Kathleen Dyckman said, “and it had a lot of parts for students to be showcased.”
Supporting Ms. Dyckman are Jacqueline Spinelli, Alyssa Straber and Angela White, as well as theater student from Berner Middle School. The show is about an hour and there will in-school productions on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Performances for families take place on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Ms. Dyckman said that the cast has been working very hard memorizing lines, lyrics and choreography in the weeks leading up to the show.
