The Massapequa High School Mock Trial team once again won the Nassau County championship in the Long Island Moot Court Competition. It was the team’s second straight title, and fifth in the past seven years.
Massapequa defeated Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School at the event at the federal courthouse in Central Islip. This year’s simulated case was about school elections and the line between candidate advocacy and bullying. Mock trial members Isabella Corigliano and Allison Hassell had the highest scores to earn Massapequa the county championship and an advancement to the Long Island finals.
The Mock Trial team is now preparing for its next event, the Nassau County Bar Association’s competition. The team is advised by Daniel Bachman.
