To Our Massapequa Family:

More than two years ago, we set out on one of the most meaningful and transformative journeys in our district’s history: the creation of the Profile of a Massapequa Learner and Leader. What began as a bold idea quickly became a shared commitment, fueled by thoughtful collaboration among our administrative team and Board of Education, and enriched by the voices of parents, students, staff, and community members. Through listening sessions, reflection, and purposeful dialogue, a powerful and unified vision emerged—one that truly reflects who we are and who we aspire to be.

At the start of the 2024–2025 school year, we proudly unveiled our new mission, vision, and five core competencies—deeply rooted in the values and aspirations of our community. Creating Leaders… One Child at a Time is more than a statement; it is a promise. It captures our collective belief in every child’s potential and now serves as the foundation for all that we do across Massapequa schools.

Over the next five months, we will bring our vision to life through a powerful series of videos showcasing our learners and leaders in action. Each highlights one of our five core competencies as they come alive across our nine schools. We begin with Academic and Career-Minded Learner, celebrating the heart of our district—an academic program that inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and empowers every student to pursue their own path to success.

Each month, we will share a new video across the district website, YouTube channel, and social media, spotlighting one of our core competencies:

March: Innovative and Creative Thinker
April: Collaborative and Communicative Team Player
May: Goal-Directed, Resilient, and Courageous Leader
June: Responsible and Respectful Citizen

These stories will be complemented by photos and highlights that capture these competencies in action. Guided by our dedicated educators, Massapequa students continue to demonstrate the skills, character, and mindset needed to thrive in a fast-changing world.

Together, creating leaders… one child at a time,

Sincerely,

Dr. William Brennan, Ed. D.
